\"\"<\/a>The Lord\u2019s Prayer\u00a0 (Part 1) \u2026. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Matthew 6:9-13<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>This is probably one of the better known passages in the New Testament, and although it is commonly know as \u201cThe Lord\u2019s Prayer\u201d, it is in fact a pattern prayer that Jesus gave to His disciples. \u201cYou don\u2019t need to beg and plead for God to hear you,\u201d He said, \u201cThat is how those who don\u2019t know God pray\u2026.. but you should say, \u2018Our Father which is in Heaven\u2019 .\u201d<\/p>\n

No-one at that time had ever called God \u201cOur Father\u201d. They all thought that God was far away and distant. Now, here was Jesus telling them to call Him \u201cOur Father\u201d ! This was not to be done glibly or in a familiar manner, and we are reminded immediately of this by His next statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cHallowed be Your Name\u201d, he said. This simply means that God\u2019s Name is holy and above all else. People sometimes say they can\u2019t believe in a God they can\u2019t see. But if we could see God, He wouldn\u2019t be God!<\/p>\n

There are a couple of accounts in the Bible of people who did see God physically\u2026.there was the prophet Isaiah who saw the glory of God, and he fell down in worship before it, unable to look at the splendour and brilliance of it all. \u201cWoe is me, for I am undone!\u201d he cried out, \u201cI am a man of unclean lips!\u201d He felt his unworthiness and sinfulness as God appeared in the brilliant light of heaven before him (Isaiah 6:5)<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0 The Apostle Paul also saw Him and it left him blind for three days (Acts 9:3-9)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We have to acknowledge that God is a Holy God before we can make our requests to Him\u2026.the point is, do we KNOW\u00a0 this One who we are addressing? Can we truly call Him \u201cOur Father\u201d ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
