    We were working on a project together, and I was thinking it  was time we were finished. \u201cWell, that\u2019s near enough\u201d, I said as I put my gear down. My brother looked at it, and said, \u201cNear enough is not good enough, Gwenyth, you\u2019ll have to spend a bit more time on it!\u201d Those words have stuck with me for over forty years, and whenever I am tempted to think \u201cNear enough\u201d, they come back to haunt me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  \nKing Solomon was one who chose what was good, but it was not the best.\nHe felt his own inadequacies, and asked for wisdom to govern wisely and well.\nBut he forgot all about his own weaknesses and used human wisdom when it came\nto himself. He was near enough, but it was not good enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  \n How often we do this ourselves!\nWe can give others good, sound advice, but when we are faced with the same\nproblems in our own life, our advice goes out the window!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  \nAs we face new problems along life\u2019s way, we must make sure that we ask\nGod for fresh wisdom in each challenge. Solomon felt he had to make political\nalliances with the neighbouring kings by marrying their princesses, but in\ndoing so he was going directly against one of God\u2019s cardinal rules about not\nmarrying into an ungodly line. As a result, he ended up taking not only the\ngirl into his house, but also her heathen idols, and thus fell away from the\nLord his God. His \u201cnear enough\u201d became his \u201cnot good enough\u201d, and he became a\nbitter disillusioned old man in later life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   \nWe can be so thankful that our Lord Jesus Christ didn\u2019t think He had\ngone \u201cnear enough\u201d after leaving the Garden of Gethsemane, but instead He went\nall the way to the cross to pay for our salvation. He was prepared to put aside\nHis will for His Father\u2019s perfect will…. \u201cnot My will, but Yours be done\u201d, He\nsaid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  \n \u201cNear enough\u201d was nowhere near \u201cgood\nenough\u201d to save us from our sins!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
