Sarah came in from school and threw her bag on the couch before slouching down on it herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, hullo Uncle Jeff! I didn\u2019t see you there!\u201d, she said as she saw him sitting there already. \u201cI haven\u2019t seen you for a while!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, I\u2019ve just come back from Australia,\u201d he said as he reached for his cup of tea. \u201cHow are things going anyway?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, alright I suppose,\u201d she said, \u201cbut I sometimes wonder what the point is in it all!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat do you mean by that?\u201d Uncle Jeff asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAw, you know,\u201d she said, \u201cIt\u2019s the same old thing every day, and you never seem to get ahead!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know, I think you are missing the point,\u201d Uncle Jeff said, \u201cYou know, God has given everyone a purpose while we go through life, and that is to do the very best we can. Even if other people don\u2019t seem to appreciate our efforts, at least later on we won\u2019t have any regrets that we could have done better!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know,\u201d Sarah said, taking a totally different tack, \u201cour Bible Study leader said last week that we are all made in the image of God. How come?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uncle Jeff thought for a minute and then said, \u201cWell. it does say that in the Bible, and that is our guide-line for what we believe. It\u2019s like this\u2026.we are all made by God\u2019s hand and with some of His attributes. What does the Bible tell us the first things that God did were?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell,\u201d Sarah said thoughtfully, \u201cHe made the world and everything that is in it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d Uncle Jeff said, \u201cAnd do you remember what He thought of the things He had made?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt says that God saw what He had made and that it was good,\u201d Sarah said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat was the last thing God made?\u201d Uncle Jeff went on \u201cWhat did He say about that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sarah thought for a minute and then said slowly, \u201cIt was a man, and it says that when He looked at everything then, it was VERY good!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know,\u201d Uncle Jeff went on, \u201cGod had great satisfaction out of all His creating power and looking at the birds, bees and flowers that he had made as well as the animals and then finally the man. Do you remember what God said when he saw that the man had no-one else for company? He said, \u2018It\u2019s not good for man to be alone! I\u2019ll make someone else to be his helper!!\u2019 And you know that those are the two things that God has put into the heart and mind of every single human being since that first day\u2026.satisfaction in creating things, and the need for a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYe-e-s, I suppose so, \u201c Sarah said, \u201cI know I enjoy seeing something I\u2019ve made when it\u2019s finished, and I like to show it to my friends\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d said Uncle Jeff, \u201cEven doing the simple things like baking a cake, or getting a meal ready gives us satisfaction, and even more so when we can share it with our friends and family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, I see that now,\u201d Sarah said, cheering up somewhat, \u201cI suppose we can say that that is what the point of doing things is!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
